Snake plants (also known as mother-in-law’s tongue) are succulent perennials native to South Africa, Madagascar, and lands surrounding the Indian Ocean. They are one of the easiest houseplants to grow, tolerating extremely low levels of light and moisture. Snake plants have been found in a NASA study to purify the air of harmful toxins.
